Reaction: New Solution
The
looters are finally running out of options. They are doing everything they can
do to maintain their power, but eventually whether they like it or not they are
going to perish. There only hope right now is to beg for John Galt and his
alliance of people to come back and rebuild the United States to its formal
glory under their terms. But everyone knows that will not work; they have to
meet with the demands John Galt made during his speech if they don’t want to
cause even bigger catastrophes. The purpose of his speech was to tell people
the truth about the state of the country and how it is run in order to convince
people to take a stand against the looters - by giving up and not listening to
what they have to say. The looters are fueled by the support of the people,
without their support they are done for. After John Galts speech the looters didn’t
know what do but were ultimately led to the conclusion that they should
continue on the same path as before. They make absolutely no sense at all, they
want to create a more successful prosperous nation, but how can they do that if
there method relies solely on stealing from those who work hard. They heard
John Galts speech and know what they need to do in order to achieve a brighter
future – to give up and let those that are capable of bringing success run the
country: “Neither he nor the rest of us will return until the road is clear to
rebuild this country.”
John
Galts speech is a symbol of hope. People think that the country is forever
ruined and that it will never recuperate, but the new system that Galt is
proposing in my opinion will lead to success. There will be no more rules that restrict
a person’s ability to produce. People have to be compelled to produce more or create
something new; the looters are constricting this concept. People will no longer
surrender their minds to others, you rely solely on yourself and the state of
your life depends on whether or not you decide to use your mind to benefit the
United States as a whole. The best will succeed and the poor will suffer, I
know it sounds cruel but this is the road we have to take in order be
successful. In other words, John Galt explains the benefits of a free economic
environment without government restrictions or Laissez Faire economics.
I agree with Wendell that the looters are finally reduced to the few who are benefiting from their actions. I agree that they are quickly losing the support of the people because people listening to Galts speech realize that he is right. I am not sure why they continue on their path like they do since I do believ they are smart enough to realize that Galt is right and that they need him to restrenghten the government.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Wendell that people think that the country is forever ruined. Frankly I don't think that the people in this novel are smart enough to realize the severity of the situation their government has placed them in. I strongly agree however with his last paragraph when he mentions laissez faire economics because I am a firm believer in the idea that the market works and the principle of survival of the fittest.
