No Strings Attached

Hank and Dagny's intense and reserved relationship has finally opened up and developed to be a casual sexual relationship in which neither one of them wants much of each other except for the physical pleasure they've ached so long for to obtain from one another. As Hank says "I wanted you as one wants a whore-for the same reason ans purpose" and Dagny answers him that she does not want a relationship or anything serious "That is all i want Hank. I want you in my bed-and you are free of me for all the rest of your time." These two characters understand that their getting together would be detrimental not only to Hank's family, but if anything bad were to happen between them, their business could suffer as well. This was not explicitly shown but I came around to thinking that since these are characters that look forward to nothing more than profit and company expansion, they will not let their feeling for another person get in the way of their goals.
This part of the book also reminds me of the movie "No Strings Attached" and it may be corny but it describes the situation perfectly. Two coworkers decide that they've wanted each other physically and are willing to give themselves up to one another, but never emotionally. They conclude that it's emotions that get in the way of achieving other goals, and so, like Hank and Dagny, they decide to put their feeling aside. Like almost every kind of situation of this sort, the movie ended with the two of them falling for each other, so maybe that will be the future that awaits Dagny and Hank as well.
