The Compatible Personalities of Dagny and Hank
I've come to truly like this book now. The story has just been sucking me in deeper and deeper and my mind just races with ideas of what daring and controversial acts Dagny and Hank will do next and how everyone else will freak out about it. I also like seeing how Dagny and Hank don't care about what anyone else has to say about them and they just do whatever pleases them. From Dagny's first introduction, we could tell she was a headstrong business woman who did what s needed to be done for the company even if it meant her resignation letter. Likewise, Hank Rearden is a self-made company owner who worked his way up from nothing and built his ore empire with his sweat and blood and is determined to squash anyone who tries to get in the way of his further expansion. I could tell from early on that these two characters had some type of connection that went deeper than pure business. Hank is obviously unhappy with his wife, and Dagny seems to be trying to find a man competent enough to replace the hole d'Anconia left in her. Hank's anniversary party was when I concluded for a fact that Dagny and Hank had something going on. She couldn't answer her own question on why she decided to attend this party if she doesn't like socializing with these kind of people, but the answer is she came for Hank. Hank was also admiring her from a far and when they were talking. They seem to like each other because of their matching personalities, but it's also more sexual than emotional desire that the two characters are showing, like when Hank described all that was going through his mind when he met with Dagny.
