Reaction: Atlas Shrugged
The looters have made everyone's lives miserable. They are the reason many good workers and leaders have quit Taggart Transcontinental. They are driven by the notion that "people go first" or "need before greed." They use these slogans to turn the public against the business owners. Now the public hates and blames everything on them. The matter of the fact is that everyone is greedy, greediness is the key to survival. Most of what people do benefits them in some way and if you look at it the other way the looters are the guilty ones. The looters primary objective is to take what they don't have, which is exactly what they did with Hank Rearden. Hank did not want to share his metal with the public or even the government, he only chose to share it with the people he trusted like Dagny. But now the looters have taken away what he worked so hard for and have left him with nothing in return. They shouldn't have the right to take peoples ideas and use them for their own benefit. We all know that they are not going to stop until every little bit of what they don't have is theirs. Francisco is finally stepping up to the plate and trying to do everything he can too destroy them. At first we all thought that Francisco was just some careless "playboy," but now we know that there was a purpose behind what he was doing. He was "destroying d'Anconia consciously and deliberately" while pretending to make a fortune. Francisco wants to leave the looters with absolutely nothing, he wants to inflict so much pain on them that it will leave them with no choice but to give up. The book is really starting to illustrate who the culprit really is, I really have no clue who will win the fight but hopefully it will turn out in Francisco's favor.
