The Further Separation Between Dagny and Jim

While Dagny continues to fight through the turmoil and chaos that the nationalization of the San Sebastian Line has brought to Taggart Transcontinental, Jim runs off, and hides due to his fear. Dagny decides to use Rearden metal because she believes and knows that it will work, whereas Jim cannot use his judgement correctly, and follows the crowd. If society as a whole believes something, he will lean his thinking toward that idea. The main separation between the two is the way they think.

Like stated above, Dagny thinks on what she believes will work, whereas Jim follows the crowd. An example of this is Jim's overall thoughts on Dagny. He questions every single motive or decision of hers because she is a woman, and woman during this time were seen by society as inferior. A more appropriate example to this section of the reading is Jim's thought on the idea of rebuilding the Rio Norte Line. He expresses his interest in rebuilding the line, but is clueless on how to lead such a project. Jim constantly acts immaturely, and makes an excuse for every possible suggestion Dagny makes to Jim. From pages 182 to 187, the two constantly argue on what should or should not be done. Dagny on the other hand, has an answer for every question or statement of uncertainty the Jim presents her with, and wants to move forward always, rather than look back and follow the crowd. I'm currently on page 230, and im eager to see how Rand continues to relate one another to each other.
