Taking Credit For Other's Work

From the moment that Dagny Taggart pitched her idea of creating a rail road made out of Rearden Steal, Jim Tagggart dismissed it. He labeled the idea as not having any value, stating that the rail would break amongst other things. This belief by Jim was what ultimately made his sister, Dagny, leave Taggart Transcontinental and create the very ironic John Galt Line.

When it came time for Dagny to open her new line, she made sure that no Taggart Transcontinental executives were there. In fact, Ayn Rand writes that security was hired to kick them out if they did arrive. However, after the success of the railroad and the nationwide love that it is now receiving, Jim tries to take credit for the rail.

This ultimately is leading me to think negatively upon Jim as a character. Especially because he starts to talk negatively about Hank Rearden to Cheryl in an attempt to make him look good. However, Cheryl is only with Jim because of his social position and his recognition in society.
